About Kibera + Kawangware

Kibera

• It is the largest informal settlement in Kenya and possibly in the African continent.

• Has the highest density of any informal settlement in Kenya, with an estimated population of 250,000.

• The settlement is composted by 18 villages (six square kilometers).

Kawangare

• Kawangare is one of the largest informal settlements in Nairobi.

• It is located 15 km west of the city center.

• The population is estimated at 291,565, with 80,000 living in informal settlements.

• It is comprised of 9 villages and approximately 3km.
